All children are expected to wear the St. Mary’s school uniform. School jumpers and cardigans are green in colour and are available to order from the school. Other items, such as trousers, t-shirts are readily available in children’s clothing departments/supermarkets. There is no requirement to purchase those items via the school.
Why wear uniform?
We strongly believe that uniform can play a key role in:
- promoting the ethos of our school
- providing a sense of belonging and identity
- setting an appropriate tone for education
Uniform orders are placed half termly, and parents are given regular opportunities to place an order through the School Money online shop.

Second hand uniforms, in good condition, are also available. Please contact the school office for more information on how to obtain this.
We are very mindful of the added cost of uniform and we have made every effort to keep requirements to a minimum.
Seasonal uniform:
Autumn and Winter: We encourage the children to have a weatherproof jacket or coat in school. There are no requirements for these items to be any particular style or colour.
Spring and Summer: Girls may wear a green and white gingham summer dress if they’d like to. Children can also wear grey school shorts rather than trousers in warm weather.
Footwear:
Children should wear black shoes with either laces or velcro fastening all year round. We ask that children do not wear sandals in summer months.
For PE, we ask that children wear trainers (rather than plimsols) for health and safety reasons. At St. Mary’s, children come to school wearing their PE kits, so there is no need for families to purchase an additional pair of trainers for school.
