07 Feb Y5 Trip to the Barnet Environmental Centre
Today, Y5 had a really fun day visiting the Barnet Environmental Centre! It was was linked to their current Science Unit about ‘Life Cycles’. In the morning they went on a trail around the grounds to find out all about seed dispersal and collected lots of seed specimens. Whilst on their trail, they heard a wood pecker doing it’s pecking, saw some beautiful green parakeets, a squirrel and a wide variety of trees, including an Oak tree that is 300 years old! After a much needed lunch, they had a go at pond dipping and despite a little ice, there were creatures galore below the surface. These included a newt, pond snail, a water spider and some dragonfly nymphs. The weather was glorious; beautiful sunshine and not too cold. A huge excitement was travelling there and back on the bus! On the way home they all got a fabulous view from the top deck of the bus 🙂
