19 Nov Our New Logo!
Our new school logo is based on The Parable of the Mustard Seed which is the theological underpinning of our school vision. We chose this particular parable as it demonstrates so much of what our mission is at St. Mary’s. We are so committed to the flourishing of children wholly and providing them with growing knowledge and understanding of the world, as they grow too! We are also proud to provide a safe and secure place to learn so that in time, the children can provide this safety and security to others; through their words and actions.
Matthew 13:31-32: The Parable of the Mustard Seed
“The Kingdom of heaven is like this. A man takes a mustard seed and sows it in his field. It is the smallest of all seeds, but when it grows up, it is the biggest of all plants. It becomes a tree, so that birds come and make their nests in its branches.”
When we showed the children the new logo, and asked why this particular image was chosen, this is what some of them said:
The seeds in the hands are like Jesus growing into God (the tree) as he is the best of all.
The circle around is the world and it’s like God holding us and protecting us all.
The hands are holding the school up and supporting us all so the hands are the adults in school loving us and helping us all to grow.
We all grow through the years from reception to Year 6 and because Mrs. Constantinou will be here for so long she will support us through our journey at St Mary’s. She is helping to build us all up like the tree growing. We are like mustard seeds, we start off really small and then we grow and grow.
We might be the bird because we are the animals that the tree (our school) supports.
We build each other up like the seed grows into a tree slowly.
It shows that we care for God’s creation and we can do small things that can make a giant difference in our school.
It shows that we have open arms for people who want to be our friends.
The bird feels safe in the tree just like we feel safe in school.
