Harvest 2026

01 Oct Harvest 2026

A huge thank you to all our wonderful families for your generous donations for our Harvest Festival. Your kindness and generosity have helped us to celebrate the spirit of harvest and support those in our local community who may be in need. We are incredibly grateful for your continued support and for helping our children understand the importance of kindness, sharing and giving to others. We will be sharing these gifts with Chipping Barnet Foodbank and Homeless Action Barnet in the next few days.

Here are some of the prayers that we shared during collective worship today:

Loving Lord, at this harvest time we thank you for all the good things you give us. We thank you for creating this beautiful earth. Forgive us when we forget to care for our world.

Lord of the harvest: hear our prayer

We give thanks for all who work on land and sea to provide our daily food. We pray for farmers in all parts of the world who have planted the seed and tended the crops so that we can have food to eat.

We pray too for those who process and distribute our food and for ourselves, that we may shop wisely and with thought for others.

Lord of the harvest: hear our prayer

Father God, today, we think about those who are short of food, whose harvests have failed because of lack of rain or whose livelihood has been destroyed by war or conflict.  Remind us of your instruction to love our neighbours – whether nearby or in the wider world.

Lord of the harvest: hear our prayer

We pray for the homeless and those who depend on the charity of others. We pray for the work of Chipping Barnet foodbank and Homeless Action in Barnet– working to help those in need.

Help us to share the harvests of the world more fairly, so everyone can be fed and there will be no more starvation.

In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen
