17 Oct Y5 and Y5 World War 2 Experience Day
This week, Y5 and Y5 had a day trip to Lincolnsfields activity centre to enrich their learning all about World War 2. They got to speak to war veterans, had a ‘Blitz Experience’, got to see that a 1940s house would have looked like, had a look inside an Anderson Shelter and even dig for victory! All of course, not forgetting their identity cards….
Here are some comments from the children:
” I enjoyed the Blitz experience because it was really fun going into an air raid shelter and doing some sums”.
” I liked the games room in the house because we got to dress up in clothes from the 1940s and do a catwalk!”
” I loved the garden where we pretended the house was on fire and we had to work as a team to put it out”
” I liked the museum because we got to see lots of cool artefacts.”
” We learnt about punishment at school and we learnt what happened when the air raid sirens went off if you were in school.”
” We learn a fun fact about the outside toilets…they used to use newspaper instead of toilet paper!”
” I was excited to learn about cakes. We found out that people made cakes out of cardboard so they looked big but hiding underneath was a tiny cake made from their rations!”
