17 Jul Y4 – ‘agents of change’
Y4 have been very busy… they noticed that there is too much litter in the area outside school and in Oak Hill Park, so they collected all their concerns and wrote to local Councillor Simon Radford MP. Here is their letter:
Simon Radford wrote back to the children and we invited him to come in and speak to the class last Friday. They really grilled him on lots of local issues: car crime, rubbish collections, skips, litter in the park, fly tipping near school, speeding and they even put even more pressure on him to try and arrange for CCTV to go up near our school.
Councillor Radford supported us to work with Barnet Council, who provided free litter pickers, gloves and high vis jackets. This morning, the Y4 children went round Oak Hill Park and collected LOTS of litter. We were joined by the council’s street cleansing and parks teams who were very impressed with Y4’s energetic approach to improving the local area!
