13 Nov Remembrance Sunday 2023
Yesterday, two members of Year 6 lay a wreath at the war memorial in East Barnet village. This was on behalf of St. Mary’s School as part of the inter-faith remembrance service.
Despite the rain, many members of the local community attended this very important occasion.
This morning, we heard all about the National Service of Remembrance in Whitehall and learned that the word ‘cenotaph’ means ’empty tomb’; marking the names of people whose lives have been lost but never forgotten.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
And at this time of unrest in different parts of God’s world, we continue to pray for peace.
