More details to follow in September
All children in Reception to Year 11 (and up to the age of 18 in Special Educational Needs schools) will be offered either the flu nasal spray or an alternative gelatine-free injection.
To ensure that no child is missed, NHS England and the Local Authority have requested that each school has a minimum of 2 sessions:
– First session
o Our team will vaccinate all eligible students. Where you have been allocated an all-day session, please be aware that fewer nurses will be attending than previous years, so it will likely take all day to complete the vaccinations.
– Second session
o This will be a follow-up session for any students that were absent or may have refused due to being nervous on the day of the session.
o Our team will also use the time in between the session to try and increase the number of consents.
– If needed after the second session, we will arrange a follow-up visit, for an hour or so, to vaccinate any children that are still outstanding
