24 Apr Hope committee – litter picking
At lunchtime today, the Hope Committee ventured into Oak Hill Park. On Mrs Constantinou’s walk to school this morning, she noticed a lot of litter in the park. Part of our mission in the Hope Committee is to care for God’s creation and to do things that bring hope and joy to others, so we felt it was only right to address the litter issue. Seeing rubbish strewn in a space designed for peace and leisure is very disappointing.
Here are a few comments from the children:
Why would someone come as far as the bin and just drop their rubbish on the floor right next to it?
Why don’t people just have some consideration?
We found glass – imagine if a dog walked on that and hurt itself?!
If people HAVE to smoke cigarettes, why can’t they pick up the butts?
Members of the public noticed the children and one lady commented on their ‘excellent work’. Whilst it’s a shame that litter picking is ever needed, it was a pleasing accomplishment to know that Oak Hill Park is a little bit cleaner and tidier than it was this morning.
