Invertebrate Hunt
Last week, Year 4 had a great time during their Science lesson, going on an ‘invertebrate hunt’ in our school grounds! They used classification keys to help identify the invertebrates they found and then drew a sketch of them. They also kept a tally of how many they found and made a note of their habitat. Some of the invertebrates found included: spiders, woodlice, beetles, bees, flies, worms and centipedes 🕷🦟

Early Man Workshop
Year Four had a wonderful time at their Early Man Workshop. The drama based activities helped to bring the Stone Age topic to life and we were very impressed with the knowledge that children were able to share during the session.

Butterfly Display and Posters with Helpful Reminders
It is wonderful to have the children back in school, learning alongside each other again. They have shown a huge amount of resilience and thrown themselves back in to their learning 🙂 We are very proud of them.
Year 4 have produced some lovely posters, which encourage our school community to be mindful and help others. They have also created a beautiful, motivational butterfly door display, entitled ‘Your wings already exist…all you have to do is FLY!’ 🙂

Positivity Pebbles
Year 4 enjoyed painting positivity pebbles as one of their ‘recovery ethos’ activities 🙂

Distance Learning
Summer Two
Creativity Week!
It has been wonderful seeing some of the creative learning that Year 4 have been doing this week 🙂 The children have been busy doing a variety of activities, including drawing birds; creating paper plate doves; designing their own ideal zoo; drawing Zentangle Beetles; collages; and doodle arms. Many members of Year 4 also enjoyed composing their own music, using Chrome Music Lab. Well done everyone!

Wassilly Kandinsky
Here are some of Year 4’s wonderful pieces of artwork, based on the style of Kandinsky. Different shapes and colours are used to represent different emotions. How does each one make you feel?

Bird Designs:
Year 4 have been designing their very own birds, using The Wildlife Trust and birdsong for inspiration! Take a look…

Summer One
The children have clearly been busy with their distance learning since the Easter holidays. It’s fantastic to see some of the activities they have been doing, such as pictures and setting descriptions of the visual text, ‘Marshmallows’; ‘Super Bear’ competition designs in support of the NHS; sculptures made from recycled materials; and examples of origami!

It was also very exciting to hear that one of our Year 4 pupil’s ITV Logo designs featured on television, as seen below!

Easter Holiday Activities:
It has been so lovely seeing some of the wonderful creations and activities that the children have been doing over the Easter break. These include creating posters to recognise our NHS heroes; creating Easter cards; and working on projects. It’s great to see a ‘Dino-Land’ and a papier mache volcano too! Some children have also taken part in an ITV competition to design a new logo. It looks like they have had a fun and creative time!

This week, Year Four were asked to draw pictures of Mesopotamia . It has been a pleasure to see the effort that has gone into the pictures that the children have created.

Click to read the Y4 letter that the children have written following their learning in the recent focus week. They have focused on finding out about litter and the impact it has on the environment. In their letter, the children are asking for help from their families to support this important cause for change.
